- Will you still be there? Will you be waiting for me, at the end of the world?
- ―Ian performing the song "End of the World" at the Sherman High School Cafeteria in Disenfranchised @ 1:20
Disenfranchised is an Underground Alternative Rock band that appears in the episode of the same name.
First Appearance[]
Disenfranchised are first seen in the Sherman High School Cafeteria performing their song "End of the World", a very pessimistic and alternative song. While most of the students shrug off the band, finding their music distasteful and subsequently leaving the cafeteria, Lance, however is drawn to them. When Ian, the vocalist, sings "When we lost everything we know, were will we turn?" the camera zooms in on Lance, however it is not until Ian sings "Will you still be there?" that Lance has a worried expression on his face, hinting some concern over the fate of Galaluna.
Lance joining the band[]
Halfway into the episode Lance buys a guitar at a pawn shop with some of the money he saved. He then spends much of his free time practising chords, until skilled and confident enough to compose his own music. While practising in a confined, solitary hang out next to the remains of the Robot Hydra legs, Lance is paid a surprise visit by the lead singer of the group. After first startling Lance by suddenly appearing and advising him on his chord progression, he pulls out his own guitar and the duo jam together. After this, the singer simply gets up and leaves. Later, Lance meets up with the band at a rehearsal, and after playing the song that he wrote, he is asked to join the band in their upcoming concert and it is at this point that Lance becomes an official member of Disenfranchised.
The Big Concert[]
Ian is seen putting-up a poster for the the concert saying "Disenfranchised Live at the Park". Lance and Ian both quietly greet each other, Ilana is instantly curious and asks what they were talking about, to which Lance answers that he's playing at a concert, Illana overjoyed, shouts: "you're playing in a band?!", Lance embarrassed by this, leaves. Monica after overhearing this, spreads the news around the school. Due to Lance's popularity, the band becomes popular, but only because people came to see Lance play.
The concert, which Disenfranchised was only expecting a few people, has a huge turn out including Julius Steel & the military. The band performs "Open the door" while Ilana and Octus deal with the Dragon Creature. In the end the concert is a huge hit and the military fall short for evidence to convict Lance, Ilana and Octus and leave them be.
After the concert[]
The next day after their successful concert, Lance is kicked out of the band by the original three members. The band believed that ever since Lance had joined, he had attracted the wrong kind of attention because he's so popular at school. Though Lance had no control over this and would prefer not to be the centre of attention. Lance protested saying that it doesn't matter if they like their music, to which Ian responded with the claim that they don't "understand" the music. To counsel him after him being kicked out of the band, Ilana suggests that he start his own band with her as the vocalist, to which Lance ignores.
